A summary of tips, rules, restrictions and fees for flying with your pet on US Airways :

  • Contact US Airways to advise of travel with your pet at 1-800-428-4322.
  • For pets in cabin the carrier must fit under the seat and the pet must stay in the carrier at all times while on board, and count as carry-on luggage.
  • Small dogs, cats and birds qualify for in cabin transport subject to availability.
  • Pets in cabin are not permitted on transatlantic flights or flights to / from Barbados and Hawaii, with dogs and cats only for travel to / from Mexico and Costa Rica. Best to call US Airways at 1-800-428-4322 for additional information regarding international travel.
  • US Airways does not accept pets in the cargo hold for Phoenix and Las Vegas due to their tendencies towards extreme temperatures.
  • Dogs, domestic cats and birds are accepted as checked baggage on nonstop US Airways Shuttle flights in the Boston / Washington Reagan National / and New York Laguardia markets only. US Airways must be advised in advance.
  • If you are traveling on another airline, you are subject to their fees and your pet will need to be claimed and re-checked with the connecting airline.
  • Fee - For pets traveling in the passenger cabin - $100 one way.
