Naked Skies - Air Travel in the Buff Takes Flight Jul 5th 2013, 11:01, by airtravel.guide@about.com It isn't the first time that passengers have been invited to fly naked, but it has been a while since the last clothes-optional flight took place a few years ago. This time around, it is a charter flight that is set to operate in July 2008. A German travel agency - OssiUrlaub is currently taking bookings for a same-day roundtrip flight to Usedom in the north of Germany along the German - Polish border. Naturism - or Freikorperkultur (FKK) is German for Free Body Culture, and nudism is not seen as all that unusual in Germany. In fact, the Guide to Germany Travel has a great cultural primer on nudism in Germany, and links to beaches and spas that are all about a clothing-optional vacation experience. So what is a naturist to do who wants to fly in the buff? First, be prepared to dole out a pretty penny for the experience. From Erfurt to to Usedom on the Baltic Sea you'll be looking at 499 euro roundtrip. The date of the flight is set as July 5, 2008. Bookings can be made through OssiUrlaub - in German. A previous venture into a clothing-optional flight was offered by Naked Air to Cancun, Mexico. But that was several years ago. The German experience will allow bookings for up to 55 passengers in total, where one will be able to strip down when at cruising altitude after take-off. No nudity for the staff on board, though- crew will remain fully clothed. Naked Air still has images up, and the story of its clothing optional flight. Just to note - there are no black lines covering up body parts.

Unaccompanied Minor - When Flights Delay or... Jul 2nd 2013, 11:01, by airtravel.guide@about.com In an ideal world airlines would never incur delays, and no flights would be canceled. Weather can turn bad, and connections can be missed. When flights don't run as scheduled this can be particularly difficult for an unaccompanied minor and everyone else involved. In the cases of inclement weather, flight delays and cancellations, the airline will contact you and keep you apprised of the situation. For example, if an unaccompanied minor is connecting flights and misses the connection because of some sort of delay. The airline representative will refer to the phone contacts provided and will try to reach the numbers on file to advise the meeting party that the child is now on the next flight to the destination. There are a few other things you can do to turn a worst case scenario into a manageable one. While the child is traveling make sure that someone is available to be reached by phone. It is always a good idea to provide extra contact numbers that can be put on file, with names of people who can be contacted on the day of the flight in case of emergency, delays, etc.. Even though most airlines will not permit unaccompanied minors to be booked on the last flight of the day to a destination, make sure that you don't book that last flight of the day. If a child has connecting flights and misses the last flight of the day, options dwindle. For those who travel as unaccompanied minors it is especially important that they are comfortable and aware of the process of flying alone to ensure a pleasant and safe trip.

A question about setting up extra assistance for a passenger is answered. "My wife has a medical condition that will not let her exert herself. I would like for her to be able to ride in a cart. What do we do to arrange that?" Answer: To arrange special assistance it's best to give a quick call to the airline directly and ask them to add an APFAX (basically a message on file for the airport) requesting the golf cart or a wheelchair if the cart isn't available. Don't worry, it's an incredibly common request. I see it at the airport all the time, and when I worked in reservations probably about a good 10% of bookings had requests for special assistance. Also, if there is a special assistance counter at the airport it can be added there. Even a regular check-in counter agent could add it to the file. But, I do find the best thing is calling in advance and having it added. That way, the gate agent will be aware in advance, and your wife will be eligible for pre-boarding as well.
